Birmingham Museum of Art Wedding

Wedding

She says he is goofy, patient, and kind and he says she is fun, thoughtful, and intentional.

John and Meredith married on a rainy April day with a Redeemer Community Church ceremony and Birmingham Museum of Art Wedding Reception. The day couldn’t have been more perfect, but before I tell you about their wedding you have to hear about their proposal! Their proposal story is the most adorable thing I’ve ever heard. The night that John proposed to Meredith, he told her that his small group leaders wanted them to come to dinner. John picked Meredith up that night and they stopped at a little wine shop in Crestline Park to bring wine for the meal. John tried to buy time and stay calm by driving around Mountain Brook. He’s a smart man because he handed Meredith the phone to pick a song for the car ride right as his sister sent him a text asking what he was doing that night (all a part of the plan as he had told his sister to text him that to help through Meredith off of any suspicions that she had). All of her nerves of a potential proposal went away because she knew his sister would know if we they were getting engaged. After a bit, they drove up a hill to her favorite spot to view downtown Birmingham. He had already prepared a table set up with photos, champagne and flowers. As they reached the table, John began his proposal by telling Meredith sweet things about her and then got down on one knee! They enjoyed the moment for a while overlooking the sunset as they sat on a blanket and talked for over an hour as they drank champagne. The night ended with a surprise engagement party at her parents house. I mean…. does it get any cuter?!

Meredith started her wedding day at that same house, leisurely and calmly enjoying the morning with her favorite ladies by her side. I loved photographing Meredith’s timeless details and her dress looked stunning hanging in the large windows of her parents’ home. Not a bit nervous, she read me the sweet text John had sent her that morning and told me about the prayers they had prayed for each other and for their future together. Everyone was so calm and just excited for these two to finally start their married life. Meredith’s mom zipped up her dress and Meredith and her dad shared the sweetest first look. After, it was time for Meredith and John to finally see each other! Make sure you don’t miss Meredith’s niece peaking through the window while they shared their first look – her sweet nephews and niece were so melting us all day long.

We knew rain was a possibility but these two were troupers!  With just a few minutes before the rain came, we raced across the golf course for some epic portraits before hurrying back inside. Lucky for us, Meredith’s parents home was beautiful and the amazing design and grand piano made for the perfect timeless backdrop for some family photos. I fully believe with the Mariee Ami team, anything is possible! We lead the full bridal party out onto the golf course with Mariee Ami’s giant umbrellas to capture a few group photos (in some light rain #bridalpartyoftheyear ) before heading on to Redeemer Community Church for their ceremony. My favorite moments of the ceremony were when the ring bearer and flower girl so intently and slowly dropped their rose petals and took each step down the isle. It was clear they took their job and that moment so seriously – I think the whole sanctuary laughed and cried over the sweetness of the moment. Their ceremony was meaningful, beautiful ceremony ending with Meredith and John serving communion to all their guests and lots of hugs with friends and family.

I love a good Birmingham Museum of Art Wedding and this reception and celebration at BMA was so beautiful! I loved all the soft pastel arrangements and beautiful linens and drapery with the amazing art and sculptures in the background. Meredith and John have been wedding guests at a few of my weddings I’ve photographed, so it was so fun to see them on the dance floor together finally as the bride and groom! I grew up dancing with Meredith and had no doubt her and her mom would tear up the dance floor so just take a look at the photos below for proof that my expectations were righ. As the night ended, we got to celebrate with a late night snack of chick fil a biscuits and an adorable rose petal send off! Does it get any better? Nope, definitely not.

Meredith and John, God has so clearly made you for each other. I’m so thankful to witness your love and I know what a light and blessing it will be to so many! Congrats you two!!
